Modern Western clinical psychology is based on the great wisdom tradition of Buddhism. Buddhist psychology, in particular, is adept at creating the penetrative insights that can transform how we understand and work with our thoughts and emotions. This is especially true for the treatment of grief and loss, psychological trauma, and personality and mood disorders.
Two of AMI's Therapists and Spiritual Counselors Are Buddhist Practitioners and Meditators Of Many Years
Dr. Parker Wilson is an expert in Buddhist psychology and mindfulness and tantric meditation methodologies. He will take the time to know you, your life, and your aspirations. He has practiced with Buddhist masters for more than 30 years. As a spiritual counselor, Dr. Wilson routinely guides clients through some of the most difficult questions, experiences, and emotional states that human life can create. It is through such introspective and contemplative counseling that psychological growth and lasting change occur.
Julia Wilson is an expert psychotherapist and a Buddhist teacher in her own right. Julia has trained with several Buddhist masters over the last 20 years, and she specializes in tantric meditations. Right now, Ms. Wilson is a student of the Venerable Tsultrim Alione of Colorado, a known master of Tara tantra. These meditations can be particularly useful for trauma, and general anxiety and healing.
Spiritual counseling provides an opportunity to shed masks, live mindfully and authentically in the present moment, and explore thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential environment.
