At the Awakened Mind Institute (AMI), we believe that individual identity is fluid and developing; identity can and does change over time. We believe that human identity transcends any single quality or characteristic, or any grouping of qualities and characteristics. Moreover, these good qualities can help guide us to more peaceful and insightful futures with our friends and families.
Ms. Julia Wilson is the Awakened Mind Institute’s gender and identity specialist. In addition to being a highly trained, and extensively experienced psychotherapist, Ms. Wilson is also a trained Buddhist practitioner who has received hundreds of hours of instruction from many Buddhist masters.
At AMI, we believe that the cultivation of mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom can help us understand ourselves in the present moment; the contemplative psychotherapy process (along with Buddhist psychology) can help us understand where we have been, and where we might like to go next as individuals.
Recently Ms. Wilson said: “I want to help people learn how to have difficult conversations and how to stand up for themselves; how to stand up for their boundaries, and their legitimacy, and their need to feel safe in their own communities! I feel so honored that I get to help people create that!”
Ms. Wilson is particularly talented at making complicated subjects easier to comprehend, and she is very good at helping her clients “connect the dots.” She has extensive experience working with anxiety, mood, and eating disorders. Ms. Wilson also has extensive experience working with trauma (PTSD, C-PTSD), and with other issues.
- Feelings of dissatisfaction, helplessness, fear, or boredom.

However you may identify, Ms. Wilson is particularly talented at providing a safe and welcoming space to all her clients. Please, if you are suffering, there is no need to wait any longer, contact us now!
